Wed, 12 December 2007 As managed care becomes more prevalent, difficulties in managing specialty care rises. Escalating specialty costs and a lack of understanding of the intricacies of specialty care prompted new options. Typically, mental health and substance abuse, prescription drug services, dental care, and vision (prescription eyeglasses) care are "carved out" services. However, cancer care, HIV/AIDS care, cardiology, audiology, and radiology are also becoming common "carve outs". This podcast also discusses Coordination of Benefits (COB), and is the fourth in this series by Guest Speaker "Cheryl" supporting the goal to provide education to increase nurses uniform knowledge base to prepare for case management cerificaiton.
